something really fun. Today, we're gonna be talking about The Simpsons. The
Simpsons has a long history of making jokes and predictions that seem to eerily coincide
with real life events. Here's a few notable examples. Donald Trump's presidency.
In the year two thousand, an episode titled Bart to the Future, Lisa
Simpson becomes President of the United States and mentions inheriting quite a budget crunch from
President Trump. This prediction seems to come true when Donald Trump was elected president
in two thousand and sixteen. Smart Watches. In nineteen ninety five, an
episode titled Lisa's Wedding, we see a glimpse of the future where Lisa's husband
wears a smart watch like device, which is remarkably similar to the modern smart
watch. The Higgs Bosun particle. In a nineteen ninety eight episode, Homer
Simpson writes out an equation on a chalkboard that, when solved accurately, predicts
the mass of the Higgs Bosun particle. This particle was discovered by scientists at
CERN in two thousand and twelve. Autocorrect errors in a nineteen ninety four episode
titled Lisa on Ice Classroom Chalkboard features the phrase lart of the Dance, which
is similar to autocorrect errors that people often encounter today. Lady Gaga's Super Bowl
halftime show. In a two thousand and twelve episode titled Lisa Goes Gaga,
Lady Gaga performs a concert in Springfield while suspended in mid air. Five years
later, in two seventeen, Lady Gaga's actual Super Bowl halftime show had a
similar stunt Disney's purchase of Fox. In a nineteen ninety eight episode When You
Dish Upon a Star, Ron Howard is shown talking to a sign that reads
twentieth Century Fox, a division of Walt Disney Company. This was years before
Disney actually acquired twenty first century Fox in two and nineteen. Sigfried and Roy
tiger attack. In a nineteen ninety three episode titled Springfield or How I Learned
to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling, a Sigfried and Roy like magician duo
is attacked by their white tiger during a live performance. Unfortunately, in two
thousand and three, the real life Sigfried and Roy suffered a similar incident during
a performance faulty voting machines. In a two thousand and eight episode titled Treehouse
of Horror, Homer tries to vote for Barack Obama, but the voting machine
switches his vote to John McCain. This episode aired way before reports of similar
issues with electronic voting machines in a two thousand and eight presidential election. The
Greek debt crisis. In two thousand and twelve, an episode titled Politically Inept
with Homer Simpson, a newsticker shows a headline that says Europe puts Greece on
eBay. This episode aired during the height of the Greek debt crisis and was
created before the crisis began. The NSA spying scandal. In a two thousand
and seven Simpson's movie, the character Russ Cargill, head of the EPA,
spies on Springfield residence through their televisions, echoing concerns about government surveillance that came
to light in the NSA spying scandal revealed by Edward Snowden in twenty thirteen.
The Shard in London. In a nineteen ninety five episode titled Lisa's Wedding,
a future London skyline is shown featuring a building resembling the Shard, a prominent
skyscraper in London, which was built several years after the episode aired. The
Bowl outbreak. In a nineteen ninety seven episode titled Lisa's Sacks, Marge offers
bar a book titled George and the Obola Virus as a bedtime story. This
reference pre dates the major Ebola outbreak in twenty fourteen siege of the US Capitol.
In a twenty twenty one episode titled The Dad's Feelings Limited, Homer seem
storming the US Capitol Building, which aired just a few weeks before the actual
storming of the US Capitol on January sixth in twenty twenty one. In in
nineteen ninety two episode titled Lisa the Greek Again, Lisa predicts the outcome of
the Super Bowl, stating that the Washington Redskins will beat the Buffalo Bills in
real life during the Super Bowl in nineteen ninety two, the Washington Redskids did
indeed beat the Buffalo Bills FaceTime and video chat. In in nineteen ninety five
episode titled Lisa's Wedding, we see video chat technology being used by Lisa to
communicate with her fiance. This was before the widespread adoption of such technology in
the real world phone and tablet dependency. In a nineteen ninety four episode titled
Lisa's First Word, a magazine cover features a picture of a family sitting together
on the couch, all absorbed in their own individual electronic devices. This anticipated
the increasing dependency on smartphones and tablets for entertainment and communication. Thank you for
